The Forest of My Soul
10:00
|
|||
(Music and lyrics by Zannibal)
Mossy bark on a tree from dawn of time
White clouds sweeping through the starry sky
Rustling of leaves, the only sound in night
In this forest full of souls, yet no one in sight
And there I stood, amidst the trees abound
Unable to move, for deep was I rooted under the ground
A lonely crow, looking over the realm of dead
Flew by my leaves and to me this he said:
"As a soul slowly withers away on Earth
Through the years it will rot and decay from dearth
Another seed from a sapling to tree will grow
And the poor soul springs to new form without a throe"
Like Pwyll in Annwn or in Dante's fever dream,
a new world under night sky agleam
A sanctuary for the spirits tired and worn
of those who should never have been born

(Music by Zannibal, lyrics by Nattvind)
Through the night voices are heard
At the nocturnal hour restless spirits wander
Of forgotten, weeping souls
Ghosts of the past that never let me go
They follow in the form of footsteps
Mine is a soul that is marked by the dead
Forever haunted and amongst the cursed
I feel a blade inside my stomach
It stuns me and takes over my thoughts
A touch so cold it burns a hole in me
Enormous darkness that is blinding me
There is a crow that sings to me of death
A death that won't bring to me serenity
A whisper so loud it pierces deep within
The coming days never freeing me
Through the night voices are heard
At the nocturnal hour restless spirits wander
Of forgotten, weeping souls
Ghosts of the future that never let me go
They follow in the form of footsteps
Mine is a soul that is marked by the dead
Forever haunted and amongst the cursed

The Oaks of England
(Music by Nattvind and Zannibal, lyrics by Zannibal, Old English poem by unknown)
Four thousand men,
the mightiest warriors of Óðinn
Ready to brave the fiercest of foes:
illiterate farmers herding their cows
Silent they sail through the swanlike mountains.
Foul in their fury, the feeders of wolves.
Eager to slay vikings again
Brithnoth hastily rallies his men
Marching onward while the world still slumbers,
replacing with valor what they lack in numbers
Alone on the coast the oaks of England
await, unwavering, ere the waves of steel.
Hi þær Pantan stream / mid prasse bestodon
Eastseaxena ord / and se æschere.
Ne mihte hyra ænig / oþrum derian
buton hwa þurh flanes flyht / fyl gename.
Wodon þa wælwulfas / for wætere ne murnon,
wicinga werod / west ofer Pantan,
Biter wæs se beaduræs. / Beornas feollon
on gehwæðere hand, / hyssas lagon.
Fearful from scieldweall flee
Howling, the hail of wounds
Smashing the ships of their souls
Bearing a blizzard of blood
Her lið ure ealdor / eall forheawen
god on greote. / A mæg gnornian
se ðe nu fram þisum wigplegan / wendan þenceð.
Ic eom frod feores; / fram ic ne wille,
ac ic me be healfe / minum hlaforde,
be swa leofan men / licgan þence.

Part I The Prophecy
Ken viisauden
Muinaisen
Löytää halajaa
Unhon kohtaa
Part II The Journey
Long has he travelled
In these white plains
In search of the spell of olden days
To liberate these lands from the evil
And find a connection with the dead
Halki lumisen maan
Tarpoo kulkija
Pohjantähti seuranaan
Hän on matkalla Tuonelaan
Found has been the ancient grove
And now a ritual it needs
To open the gates to the underworld
Where the ancient wisdom lives
Nouse luontoni lovesta
Syntyni syvästä maasta
The voice of the drum forms the trance
Thus can the journey commence
Halki lumisen maan
On tarponut kulkija
Pitkin jokea hyytävää
Hän on matkalla Tuonelaan
Part III Where the Ancient Spirits Lie
In the form of a snake
The shaman finds his way
To souls from days of old
Their knowledge to behold
Through the freezing river of death
Past the nine sons of the mistress
Found have been the ancestors
The words to lift the curse
The gaze of the evil ones
Will no longer lurk in the land
Yet words of such depth
Cannot a mortal soul possess
No more shall blood be shed
Iron has once more been tamed
But a toll the dead ones need
Joining them in their creed
Part IV The Spell from the Northern Cold
The wisdom old
Can only be found
Where the ancient spirits lie
Far in the northern cold
The olden wisdom
Found has the seeker
Where the ancient spirits lie
Far in the frozen north
The ancient wisdom
Found has the misfortuned one
Now a spirit doomed to lie
Far in the frozen north
Part V Oblivion
(tortured screams)
